Kicking Away Anxiety

Anxiety creates feelings of fear and worry. Here are some quick tips on how to kick away anxiety and get anxious thoughts out of your heads:

 

  1. Acknowledge your feelings. Be more aware of your anxiety / distress and do not try to repress your feelings.
  2. Stop and take a short break. Whenever you feel overwhelmed, go somewhere quiet and take some slow and deep breaths for several minutes to relax yourself.
  3. Calm down and refocus. Take some time to analyse the situations and ask others for opinions.
  4. Release your mind. Don’t rely on memory! Always write things down to release your mind.
  5. Confront and evaluate your anxiety. Make a list of the things that worry you or trigger stress and evaluate them objectively. Discern those which have been over-catastrophized.
  6. Slow down and relax regularly. Take up meditation or yoga or other forms of relaxation exercises. Make time to practice at least one relaxation technique everyday.
